School
The link between man and nature
Organizing an educational outing in the forest is an excellent way to make young people aware of the living, fragile nature of this ecosystem, rich in biodiversity. Today, the forest plays many roles: it inspires artists, serves as a laboratory for scientists, preserves biodiversity, stimulates the imagination, offers respite to city dwellers and much more. All these interactions help us to better understand the forest as a valuable educational resource, which can be explored from different angles thanks to a multidisciplinary approach.
School Trip Suggestions | Spring 2026
Every year, the Maison de la Forêt offers nature awareness workshops for cycles 1, 2 and 3. In 2025, more than 1,200 people took part in these school trips.

Our Activity Partners.
L’Atelier Vert | Main collaborators
L’Atelier Vert is an association created in 2009 that has made nature and environmental education its priority. For the 2025-2026 season, we are a team of six professional employees working year-round. We engage with all audiences to help them discover and understand the biodiversity around them throughout the seasons. We use a variety of teaching approaches to suit everyone and focus on active, outdoor learning that involves the whole body. We also develop interpretive trails, educational tools and nature projects. Our association, which is active in local and national environmental education networks, is accredited by Éducation Populaire and recognised as being of general interest. Every year, we run nature activity programmes for the Meurthe, Mortagne, Moselle, Sânon, Lunéville and Baccarat communities of municipalities.

The National Forestry Office
As part of a collaboration between the Maison de la Forêt and the ONF's UT Montagne (Badonviller), CM classes can enjoy a walk accompanied by forest rangers, instead of going out on their own. The topics covered will include the life of trees, forest management, biodiversity, animals and the role of water.
This is a free, limited offer – for more information or to organise this option, please contact us.
GRAINE Grand Est | BPJEPS trainees
Every year, the Regional Group for Nature and Environmental Education and Activities offers BPJEPS (Professional Certificate in Youth, Popular Education and Sport) training to prepare future activity leaders and specialist educators. Part of this training takes place at the Maison de la Forêt. As part of this programme, from 15 to 19 June, trainees will be on hand to offer workshops to interested classes. This package offers great flexibility in the choice of topics and allows trainees to put their skills into practice and improve their skills.
The activities are free of charge but only available on these dates – contact us to take advantage of this opportunity.
Funding
Thanks to the financial support of the Meurthe-et-Moselle Departmental Council (CD54), the Maison de la Forêt is able to offer free activities for schools in the department. You are only responsible for your own transport.
Outside the department? You can still contact us to discuss the possibilities and plan a visit tailored to your needs!
